Arimals and birds (mammals, birds and repétes) should not 'ce brought into Hong Kong (either to impart or for Transhipment transi) unless a Special Permit to do so is obtained IN ADVANCE from the Agriculture and Fisheries Department (AFD) Hong Kong. Fees are imposed for the issue of permits and must be paid at the lime of application. fees are charged in 2000rdance with calegory and number of mammals. birds or reptiles involved, and separale permits are required for different categories consigned.

• For overseas application, a bank draft in HONG KONG DOLLARS payable to the HONG KONG GOVERNMENT", through a licensed bank in Hong Kong is accepted. To minimize inconvenience, overseas applicants may nominale their friends or the transportation agents in Hong Kong (eg. the carrying airlines/shipping companies which have local handling agents) to apply for permits on their behalves.
Type of Special Permits
Dogs and Cats from Group I Countries
Permit for DCGS and CATS to be imported direct from UKMIRELAND, AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND. These animals may be exempted from quarantine if our requirements are fully complied with.
If deemed necessary (for instance animals of de hetory, arunds showing suspoous signs CunỘ and when it appears necessary in the inte est diades prevention) quarantine for dogs and cals from Groups I. If and II countries may be extended to 6 months, even longer

Permil for DOGS and CATS in tranship-nenttransit via Hong Kong. These animals are under surveillance of this department during their transhipment/t-ansit in Hong Kong.

Application forms are available from this departmerk Application by letter is also accepted. Please apply for the perit well IN ADVANCE. Permits il issued, will normally be valid for 90 days. Later changes of arrival details can be
notified by telephoning, or by cable, or fax, or by waiting to the Senior Field Officer (Pemils) or the Duly Import Control Officer

erms & Conditions of the Special Permit for Pet Animals
General terms and conditions
• The permit is valid for one consignment only.
• Dogs and cals under 2 months old will not be allowed for Importation or Transhipment/Transit
• The pets must be consigned as manifest cargo (covered br an air waybill ✅ traveling by air), unless specifically stated otherwise in writing by this department.
• The pets must be carned and caged in a way to ensuNE humane management at all times.
• The pets must be liansported by the E-stest and most dire route to Hong Kong.
• The permit issued is only valid for release of your pets frar Hong Kong Customs after the pets are duly inspected by The Quly Import Control Offour of this fepartment
• In the event that the pets are directed ɔ the quarantine kennels, the owner or his agent is required to provide suitable transportation to convey the pets, under official esi by the Duty Import Contral Officer to and from the quarantine kennels.
Overseas Certification and Local Quarantine In general, a veterinary health certificate from the exportin country dated not more than 14 days before the depart of the pet from that country is required.
