One of the many ceremonial duties that the Governor is expected to carry out is to make the prese -ation to the winner of the Governor's Cup Race This ~ held once every season, on a Wednesday night Happy Valley Racecourse, where the Governor has the of a Box. Apart from anything else, this provides an opportunity for an informal social evening with around 20 guests.
The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club are keen finalise the date for the Governor's Cup in the 1s season, so that they can include this in the progtumne that they will publish on 13 July.

I do not know how keen Mr. and Mrs Patten are on racing and how often they would like to make use of the Governor's Box. This is something that I can discuss with them in due course. But, apart from the Governor Cup, it is also traditional for the Governor and his to be invited as guests of the Chairman of the Jocke Club to the Hong Kong Invitation Cup, the other main of the season. This year the Hong Kong Invitation Cup
