[Is it true that you turned down two jobs as a Special Adviser
to come to Hong Kong?]
I can't comment on that. That's not strictly accurate.
[What made you decide to come to Họng Kong?]
Coming to Hong Kong is an excellent opportunity which I much look
forward to.
[Have you been to Hong Kong before?]
No, I haven't been to Hong Kong before, but I very much look
forward to coming and clearly I have a lot to learn.
[You briefed the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs issues during
the election campaign, including on Hong Kong?]
I briefed the Prime
Minister during the General Election
campaign, not just on foreign affairs issues, but on the daily
political issues as we went round the country. In fact, I mean,
as you know during the General Election campaign, more parochial
issues tend to come to the fore.
