I am writing to you as Chairman of the Hong Kong Association in the hope that you will be free to join us as the guest of the Association at the Dragon Boat Dinner, which we are holding at the Inter-Continental Hotel on Thursday 11th June. We hold these dinners every third year, the normal form being for members of the Hong Kong Association to take tables to which they invite business associates, civil servants and others including a few from Hong Kong - who they think will enjoy and benefit from the occasion. This results in an audience of about 300.

There will be three speeches; the toast of Hong Kong being proposed by Michael Heseltine, followed by a toast to the guests proposed by myself, and Lydia Dunn has agreed to make the reply on behalf of Hong Kong.
It will be a black tie affair and I will send you a formal invitation on hearing that you can come.
