BREAKFAST MEETINGS WITH BUSINESSMEN, ACADEMICS AND JOURNALISTS
I understand that Mr. Patten is contemplating breakfast meetings with businessmen, academics and journalists who have an interest in Hong Kong/China.
2.
Some suggested names are listed at Flags A, B and C. On the basis of our experience with Lord Wilson's quarterly lunches at Cowley Street for journalists, I recommend 8-10 persons per meal, five to seven guests plus Mr. Patten, yourself and me.
There may be a case for mixing the groups.
3. I suggest Cowley Street as the venue on grounds of convenience and atmosphere. If Mr. Patten wants us to proceed with the arrangements, would you let me have some dates. We should give guests two weeks' notice, if possible, especially the businessmen.

(John Yaxley) COMMISSIONER
