Dearfoh,
GOVERNMEnt houSE HONG KONG
12 May 1992
When I was with the Governor in London at the end of last month, I said that I would write to you from time to time to seek Mr. Patten's views on invitations for meetings and functions after his arrival. letter is actually of a more general nature.
Patronage
This
I attach a list of organisations of which the present Governor is Patron. I expect we will receive requests from most, if not all, of these asking Mr. Patten to continue as Patron. Some of them may already have written to him direct. Grateful to know how Mr.
Patten would like to handle these. We would be very willing to provide advice on individual requests, either once they are made or in advance.
Letters
We have already received a number of letters addressed to Mr. Patten. We have been re-directing these to him c/o the Foreign & Commonwealth office, and will I am continue to do this unless you advise otherwise. sending you separately by bag two letters which we opened because of their imprecise addressing.
