V CIVIL SERVICE/HMOCS ISSUES
CIVIL SERVICE/POLICE MORALE?
-
Hong Kong needs an efficient and well motivated Civil
Service and Police. Crucial to Hong Kong's stability and prosperity in years up to 1997. Impressed by their efficiency and dedication.
But we
Civil servants and police have doubts about 1997. have been dealing with this in practical ways (eg providing assurances in nationality package).
MEMBERS OF HER MAJESTY'S OVERSEAS CIVIL SERVICE (HMOCS)
- We have held consultations with the representatives of HMOCS on what arrangements should be made as a result of the change in sovereignty in 1997.
Officials visited Hong Kong in May to take forward these issues. We are now reflecting on the results of this visit and considering how to continue the consultations.
-
The Minister with special responsibility for Hong Kong met representatives of HMOCS during a recent visit.
We appreciate that HMOCS members want to know as soon as possible what arrangements will be put in place and we are working with this aim in mind.
