I attach translations of two articles which appeared last week in the Chinese language press. This is not a serious problem but you ought to be aware of it.
I have arranged with the Government Information Services to let you have all press cuttings on Mr. Patten from now on. They will be channelled through John Chuan who is Our Chief Information Officer in the Hong Kong Government Office.
have noticed from the telegrams that Mr. Goodlad plans to give an interview to the Oriental Daily before his departure for Hong Kong. You might ask your colleagues in News Department to think about spreading the access around a little. John Ellison, the Oriental Daily stringer in London, has done well recently and perhaps Sing Tao should be given the interview on this occasion. Their stringer London goes by the memorable name of Alegro C.K. Poon
