Dea Kirty,
HONG KONG:
CROWN PROCEEDINGS ORDINANCE
1.
Thank you for your letter of 19 August.
I will pass on the views of your Legal Advisers, which, I note, explains why they see no advantage in amending the Crown Proceedings Ordinance but no reasons why they see disadvantage other than that it would be otiose.
2.
It remains possible that a decision might be made to amend the Ordinance in any event. I should therefore be grateful for your Legal Adviser's views on the questions raised in Miss Major's letter to Guy Lester of 27 June 1991 (copy attached for ease of reference). You will see from the manuscript minutes on this that your department were chasing your Legal Advisers for a reply to these points on 16 July 1991. I should be grateful for a response by the end of the month.
