articles which the Societies Notification officer has reasonable cause to believe to be capable of being evidence in

the prosecution of an offence under this ordinance in connection with the society.

(2) The Societies Notification officer and such other persons authorized by a warrant issued under subsection (1) may on production of the warrant and evidence of his identity enter, with or without assistants and using force for that purpose if necessary, into the place or premises specified in the warrant, and may do such things as are specified in the

warrant.".

Powers of Registrar to summon witnesses

(1)

Section 34 (1) is repealed and the following substituted " (1) The Societies Notification Officer may summon before him any person whom he has reason to believe may be able to give information concerning any society whose activities he reasonably believes may be prejudicial to the security of Hong Kong or to public safety or public order.".

(2)

Section 34 (2) is amended by repealing "the Registrar or an ssistant registrar" and substituting "the Societies Notification

fficer".

(3) Section 34 (3) is amended by repealing "The Registrar and very assistant registrar" and substituting "The Societies

otification Officer".

(4) Section 34 (4) and (5) is repealed.

(5) Section 34 (6) is amended by repealing "the Registrar or an ssistant registrar" and substituting "the Societies Notification

fficer".
