(3) If in the opinion of the Societies Notification
Officer the name of a society gives such an indication of the
nature of its activities as to be likely to mislead the public,
he may serve a notice on the society requiring it to change its
name within such time as may be specified in the notice.

Where a society fails to comply with a notice served
under subsection (2) or (3), every office-bearer and every
person managing or assisting in the management of the society
commits an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to
a fine of $10,000 unless he establishes to the satisfaction of
the court that such failure has occurred for reasons beyond his
control.

Change of particulars of a notified society
(1) Where a notified society changes its name, principal
place of business or principal office-bearers, it shall, within
14 days from such change, inform the Societies Notification
Officer in writing of such change.
(2) Where a notified society fails to notify the
Societies Notification Officer of a change of particulars as
required by subsection (1), every office-bearer of the society
and every person managing or assisting in the management of the
society commits an offence and shall be liable on summary
conviction to a fine of $10,000 unless he establishes to the
satisfaction of the court that such failure has occurred for
reasons beyond his control.
