The Bill was opposed by some accountants on a number of grounds, including that it violated the right to privacy under article 14 of the Bill of Rights and the right against self- incrimination under article 11(2)(g) of the Bill of Rights, as the duty of confidentiality did not extend to disciplinary or criminal proceedings.
