1. Mr Peter Sutch, the Chairman-designate of Swire Hong Kong told Lord Caithness that Cathay had come under great pressure from the US to cut their air links with Vietnam. The US had argued the Cathay carriers had US equipment in the cockpit and that by serving Vietnam was therefore in breach of the embargo. They had also tried to block, successfully for a while, Singapore Airlines service to Vietnam.
