AVIATION AND MARITIME SECURITY ACT 1990: HONG KONG
1.
Please refer to our telephone conversation of 16 October. I am enclosing a copy of a fax from Dr P H Hase, who was recently appointed the Principal Assistant Secretary on Aviation Security in the Hong Kong Government at least until the end of November 1992. He is responsible for ensuring that all aviation and maritime security legislation for Hong Kong is completed as soon as possible.
2.
He will be arriving in London on a duty tour the week beginning 26 October and has sought a meeting with this Department, Legal Advisers and Hong Kong Department. As we
agreed, I have arranged for a meeting to be held in our conference room, E217, at 1430 hrs on Wednesday 28 October and I should be grateful if you could attend. In view of the political
sensitivities that Dr Hase has mentioned, I have also invited Rod Bunton, Hong Kong Department, to attend.
3.
In his letter, Dr Hase raises a number of issues and
questions which we will need to address before the meeting takes place and I should be grateful if you could look at these and let me have your interim comments.
