only exception may be Yan Tian but it is still not
clear whether they would have the necessary back-up
services to seriously compete with Hong Kong in the
near future.
(d) Strong interest was expressed on the proposed River.
Trade Terminal in Tuen Mun Area 38, and the
Guangdong Provincial Planning Commission
representatives hinted that they would coordinate
the bid for the site but wished it could be granted
on a low premium basis.
(e)
There was repeated calls from the Planning
Commissions that the future planning and development
of Hong Kong and Guangdong Province, whether in
transport, port or industry,
or industry, should be done in a
more coordinated and integrated manner. A strong
hint was made by the Guangdong Provincial Planning
Commission that a more structured and regular forum,
for example a joint planning committee, would be
useful for both sides to share information and
undertake long term plans. (No commitment was given
by the PELB delegation on this point.)
