The representatives of the Guangdong Provincial Planning Commission
was also apprised of the latest position with respect to the implementation
of the Port and Airport Development Strategy (PADS) following the
signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Chinese and
U.K. Governments over the development of the new airport in Hong
Kong.

The Guangdong representatives expressed that they would welcome more
opportunities to discuss the planning of Guangdong with Hong Kong, and
hinted that some mechanism such as a joint planning committee would be
useful.
