Three major road systems are planned to connect the airport with
Shenzhen. One highway, with a light rail reserve, is under construction. Travel time
is expected to be 20 minutes. The Shenzhen Airport Corporation is planning with
Citybus of Hong Kong to offer bus services to its passengers from the airport directly
to Hong Kong via Lok Ma Chau. A 1 000 ton-class passenger ferry terminal has also
been built along the seashore of the airport with two berths each for 500 ton-class
passenger hovercrafts. Discussions are in hand with Mr. Huang Zhouxuan (1),
owner of Parkview Development of Hong Kong, to put two hovercrafts into operation
in 1992 to serve a proposed route to the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal.

Initially all flights will be domestic, serving 21 major cities in China. The
first flight is scheduled to take place on 26 November 1991 to Beijing and Shanghai.
International flights are still being negotiated and the Shenzhen Airport Authority is
unable to give a date for the envisaged first flight.
