A new coal-fire power station of 60,000 kw capacity will also be
completed by 1993 to serve the port and nearby developments.
Mawan Port

The delegation was met and briefed by the Vice General Manager of the
Shenzhen Haixing Harbour Development Co. Ltd. Mr Yin Zhen Steng and his
assistants.

The Mawan port has three deep-water berths in the existing terminal
no. 4. One is for ships of 35,000 ton-class with a wharfline of 226 meter long and
water depth of 12.4 meter. The other two berths is for ships of 5,000 ton-class with
a wharfline of 150 meter long and water depth of 7.5 meter. Its annual throughput
capacity is 710,000 tons. For the first ten months of 1991, throughput was only
90,000 tons. The port supports mainly bulk cargo handling operations. Terminal No.
3 will be completed in 1992 whilst terminal no. 2 and 1 are under planning.
10.
A 35.5 Km railway to connect Chiwan, Mawan and the Guang-Shen
railway is already under construction for completion by 1993.
