Qingdao has a well-developed industrial economy. Around 600 000 workers, or 60% of the city's non-agricultural work force, are engaged in the industrial sector. The city is an important production base for light and textile industries. Food and beverage

Dalian has an area of 12 574 sq. km and a population of 5 million; the area of the city district is 1 442 sq. km. Administratively, Dalian is divided into Dalian County ( 大連縣 ), Wafangdian County (), Zhuanghe County () Changhai County (長海縣) and Xinjin County ( 新金縣

Dalian is also one of the 14 coastal cities opened in 1984. It has the strategic advantage of locating at the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula and the industrialised North East, making it a major entrepôt, industrial base and tourist centre. Like Qingdao,
