Convention

2.

The

requirements

Agreement

modifies

certain

of the Convention for the Safety

of Life at Sea, 1960 as replaced by the 1974

Convention in the case of passenger ships

registered .in the Contracting Parties and

engaged in the carriage of large numbers of unberthed passengers in special trades. Such

ships must comply with the requirements of

the Convention 25 applicable to passenger ships, subject only to the modifications and

additions as set out in the Rules annexed to

the Agreement. After inspection, a Special Trade Passenger Ship Safety Certificate shall

be issued to a special trade passenger ship which complies with the requirements. Under Article V, the Agreement is open to accession

by any Contracting Governments
