OBJECTION BY THE NETHERLANDS AND THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND CONCERNING A DECLARATION MADE BY THE GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC UPON RATIFICATION
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, acting in his capacity as depositary, communicates the following:

On 8 December 1988, the instrument of ratification by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland of the above-mentioned Convention was deposited with the Secretary-General.
The instrument of ratification specifies that the said Convention is ratified in respect of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands, Saint Helena, Saint Helena Dependencies, Turks and Caicos Islands.
The instrument of ratification was accompanied by a declaration by which the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland recognizes the competence of the Committee against Torture under article 21 of the Convention. The declaration reads as follows:
