Convention was
concluded
at
Brussels on 29
November 1969 and entered into force on
protocol
extending the provisions
of
6 May 1975.
A
the Convention to
Cover pollution resulting from other specified substances
was concluded at London on 2 November 1973 and entered into
force on 30 March 1983 (text at Annex B).

Protocol
The United Kingdom ratified the Convention and the
January 1971 and 5 November 1979,
respectively.
Kong Hong
was included
in
the
United
Kingdom's
ratifications
(reference at Annex
C).
After
consultation with the Chinese side in accordance with the
Agreed Consultation Principles on Localisation of Law, the
provisions of the Convention and the Protocol have been
given effect
in Hong Kong by the Merchant Shipping
(Prevention and Control of Pollution) Ordinance 1990 (Ord.
No. 37 of 1990) which came into force on 15 January 1991.
