Convention on Certain Questions Relating to

Laws ('the Convention') was

Convention reflects general principles of

international law and provides that every State shall have

the power to determine under its own law who are its

nationals (Article 1). This law shall be recognized by

other States insofar as it is consistent with international

conventions, international custom and the principles of law

generally recognized with regard to nationality.
