I AGREED TO A SUGGESTION OF ZHU'S IN FEBRUARY TO RAISE THE QUOTA OF 500 GUANGDONG LORRIES LICENSED TO COME TO HONG KONG WHEN THAT QUOTA IS TAKEN UP. (IT WILL BE REVIEWED WHEN THE TAKE UP RATE REACHES 450. 15,000 HONG KONG LORRIES ARE ALREADY LICENSED TO DRIVE IN CHINA.)
9. I PRESSED FOR A TRANSFER OF A 1,000 LORRIES FROM MAN KAM TO TO LOK MA CHAU, AS WELL AS THE TRANSFER OF SOME 200 FRESH FOOD LORRIES. THIS WOULD HELP RELIEVE CONGESTION.
10. I ALSO ASKED FOR THE QUOTA OF HONG KONG PRIVATE CARS ABLE TO CROSS AT LOK MA CHAU TO BE INCREASED. THIS WOULD FACILITATE TRAVEL BY HONG KONG MANAGERS OF FACTORIES IN CHINA.
11. ZHU SENLIN PROPOSED THAT THE SITE FOR A NEW RIVER CARGO TERMINAL AT TUEN MUN SHOULD BE GRANTED TO A GUANGDONG COMPANY FOR DEVELOPMENT.
