atifying the amendments in principle. Base
the recommended
rogrammes of work, priorities had been set for IPM of vegetables, mplementation of the pesticide code and harmonization of plant uarantine principles and procedures which are of concern and interest o all participating countries in the region. Thus all countries will be enefited. I therefore recommend Hong Kong should support UK's atification to this amendment so that the Commission could have its own udget to implement the various activities.
0. The issues on implementation of the IPPC (para. 8 and 9) and esticide code (para.10 and 11)
(para.10 and 11) had important implications on nternational trade. These should be followed up whenever possible so hat early necessary administrative or legislative measures could be aken for international cooperation and harmonization in the trade of gricultural produces and pesticides. It is also evident that plant quarantine and pesticides are important subjects of concern at nternational level. It will therefore be beneficial to Hong Kong if we ould send officers to attend training courses, symposiums and workshops s mentioned in paragraphs 10, 14 and 15.
1.
The Session was very well organized and efficiently conducted. The Corea Government showed great generosity and hospitality in organizing the meetings, providing transports and conducting interesting field trips.
22. Finally I would like to add that continued participation in the Commission is of high value and beneficial to the Department as the activities of the Commission is highly relevant to the work of the Department.
