We should be grateful if you would confirm that your Government agrees with the
following:
When the Agreement on co-operation between the European Community and Brazil was signed, the Parties undertook to address in the appropriate manner issues relating to the operation of shipping, particularly where the development of trade might be hindered. Mutually satisfactory solutions on shipping will be
a commercial basis is sought, while the principle of free and fair competition on
observed.
It has likewise been agreed that such issues should also be discussed by the
Joint Committee.
