Canada Clause.

5. Joint Committee

The agreement will provide for the setting up of a Joint Committee composed, on the one hand, of representatives of the Community and, on the other hand, of representatives of Macao. The role of the Joint Committee will be:

to ensure that the agreement operates properly;

to examine progress with regard to trade and cooperation;

to seek appropriate means of avoiding such difficulties as arise in the fields of activity covered by the agreement;

to consider measures capable of promoting and diversifying trade and cooperation;

to exchange views and put forward suggestions regarding any issue of common concern relating to the fields covered by the agreement.

The agenda for the said consultations will be determined by mutual agreement. Rules will be laid down with regard to the frequency, venue and chairing of meetings and any other matters.

The Community will be represented within the Committee by the Commission, assisted by the representatives of the Member States in accordance with the rules laid down in the Treaty.

6. other provisions

Provision will also be made for the clause concerning the territorial application of the agreement, as contained in the other Community agreements.

The agreement will also include a clause concerning its entry into force. duration, automatic annual renewal and the period required for giving notice of its denunciation (six months).
