Macao will be able to benefit from the Community's development programme for Asia and Latin American countries, which will spend 2.75 becu (around £1.9 bn) over the next five years.
The proposed Agreement would establish a Joint Cooperation
Committee to monitor the functioning of the Agreement.

Ministerial Responsibility
6. The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth
Affairs has overall responsibility for UK and EC relations
with Macao. The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry has
an interest in some areas of the agreement.

Legal and Procedural Issues
(i)
Legal basis
The agreement is based on Articles 235 and 113 of the Treaty
of Rome.
(ii)
Cooperation/Consultation Procedure
The consultation procedure is mandatory under Article 235.
