The Chairman of Balfour Beattie was lectured about Hong Kong on a visit to Peking last week by the Chinese Minister of
Energy.
But no specific threats.
A Director of GEC has told the Hong Kong Government Office
here that the Chinese side had told GEC that the present
Sino-British row over Hong Kong would lead to difficulties in
GEC getting business in China. GEC senior management were reported to be very worried.
