This morning you asked whether Resourceful River Ltd," whose deal to buy the World Trade Centre was aborted over the weekend, was a mainland company. According to Reuters textline it is a consortium of mainland owned companies though no details are available of the backers. There is press speculation that Resourceful River Ltd was pushed out of the deal rather than jumped of its own accord.
2. On a related issue, whilst the markets have held up well over the past week it is worth noting that on October 26 (last Monday) the Hang Seng index fell 12 per cent in early trading subsequently recovering to a 4 per cent on the day.
