The UK Official Secrets Acts apply to Hong Kong
but are not covered by Hong Kong legislation, so
what will happen to them after 1997?
A.
They will cease to have effect in Hong Kong after
30 June 1997. It will therefore be necessary to
localise these UK enactments by Hong Kong
enactments so that they can continue after 1997.

enactments?
In most cases localising enactments replicate the
UK enactments on which they are based, with
necessary modification to suit Hong Kong's
specific needs.
