(1) Sovereignty

(a) The HKSAR is an inalienable part of the PRC.

[Article 1]

(b) Apart from displaying the national flag and national

emblem of the PRC, the HKSAR may also use a regional flag and regional emblem. [Article 10, Para. 1]

(2) Political Set-up

(a) The National People's Congress authorizes the HKSAR to exercise a high degree of autonomy and enjoy executive, legislative and independent judicial power, including that of final adjudication in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Basic Law. [Article 2]

The executive authorities and legislature of the HKSAR shall be composed of permanent residents of Hong Kong in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Basic Law. [Article 3]

The HKSAR shall safeguard the rights and freedom of the residents of the HKSAR and of other persons in the Region in accordance with law. [Article 4]

(3) Economic System

(a) The socialist system and policies shall not be practised in the HKSAR, and the previous capitalist system and way of life shall remain unchanged for 50 years.
