THE DRAFTING COMMITTEE

(1)

Establishment

in

the

(a) The Drafting Committee was established

1985 with the membership list passed by National People's Congress. When it was newly established, there were 59 members, among whom 23 were from various sectors in Hong Kong.

(b)

(Note In November 1989, the total number of members was 51; 22 members from Hong Kong and 29 members from the Mainland.)

The members were divided into five special groups to work on the following areas :

Relation between the Central Authorities and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

Political structure

Fundamental rights and duties of residents

Economy

Education, science, technology, culture, sports and religion
