Department of State
Room 5828
2201 C Street, NW
Washington, DC
Dear Mr. Ogden:
20520
Enclosed is a breakdown of vessels charged to the United Kingdom (flag code 80) and British Colonies (flag code 83) for the 1989 North Atlantic Ice Patrol season. The colonies under flag code 83 consist of Bermuda, Hong Kong, Gibraltar and the Cayman Islands. The Isle of Man (flag code G5) is a British colony with a registry of significant size but no vessel movements were recorded within the Ice Patrol region for 1989.
This breakdown does not constitute all the vessel movements within the region since records from Canada have been excluded. The U.S. Department of State receives an aggregate listing of vessel movements entering and exiting Canada through the Ice Patrol region. It appears that Canada has, like the U.S., placed vessels of registry in the British Colonies in the list of non- contributing countries. A copy of Canada's statistics on Ice Patrol for 1989 has been provided along with the breakdown.
Any questions concerning this enclosure should be directed to Douglas McDonald on (301) 763-7770.
Sincerely,
ш
NORMAN A. TAGUE
