I carried the rope at first, then when PC 19032 was ashore, I handed it to him. I then went to check the six persons who I could see and immediately asked them if there were any persons missing. They replied that everybody was present and accounted for. They were all very frightened and physically fatigued and obviously totally drenched. The youngest was year old boy who was together with two females and three males. My priority was to save their lives and initially I had to calm them down.

It was decided to board them onto PV 43 one at a time, whilst PC 19032 held onto the rope to maintain control over the positioning. I then physically took hold of the persons one

a time and assisted them on board. After each one boarded, PC 19632 helped them to sit down at the stern, whilst S/SGT LAU went astern to put distance between himself and a potentially devestating crash against the rock. This loading process took about five minutes.

13.

When all was complete, I managed to jump back on board, whilst PC 19032 followed after me. We then decided to return to Tai O in the sea rider, because it would have been impossible to get alongside launch 73 at this location. It took 45 minutes to proceed from Wong Fa Pai the short distance to Tai 0. We had to journey very slowly because we were low in the water with so many persons on board and the large waves were crashing over the craft.

14.

When back at Tai 0, medical treatment was arranged for the six persons at Tai O clinic, whom were all mainland chinese.

There were no actual injuries, but treatment was necessary for shock and their poor condition generally.

15.

With the operation complete we resumed normal patrol.
