S K TANG BEQUEST: QUERIES WHICH HAVE BEEN RAISED

I have produced the following checklist:

1.

a.

Mr Lang, CRD is concerned about:

Future funding of the expansion for the UK/HK

Scholarship Scheme once the accrued interest has been used

up;

b. Whether we could start distributing money from HK to

Institute of Cancer Research.

2.

Mr Smith-Laitten, BTC, has written raising the following queries which I am forwarding to Legal Advisers:

a. Interest Low rate at present due to type of account,

can we change the account the funds are held in?

b.

British Council - Are we planning to use them as fund administrators once the money is in the UK or not?

C. Institute of Cancer Research

Is the division of the

funds they receive set or can it be changed? This is with problems of the the future funding of the UK/HK Scholarship

Scheme in mind.

Mr Briegel, Institute of Cancer Research, is concerned

to know whether:

a. There is a copy of the will which he could have. (I have a letter stating the bequest);

b. He will receive the capital as well as the accrued

interest to administer.

4. Mr Slack, Charity Commission, wishes to know from HK whether they agree with his suggestion that the Sign Manual be used to set up a scheme for the funds. This is necessary because the bequest did not set up a scheme or trust. Therefore an Attorney General, either in HK or UK, needs to
