Thank you for copying to us the CBI list of proposals for 1992/93. It is gratifying to see that CBI are still
prepared to offer Hong Kong the same number of places (5) in
1991/92 as in 1990/91, and indeed propose the same number
for 1992/93.

However, we are disappointed to note that Hong Kong (for
reasons unknown to us) offered no candidates for 1990/91. It would be helpful if at the forthcoming Board Meeting you are able to discover the reason for Hong Kong's seeming lack of interest in these Scholarships. Perhaps the simple answer is that Hong Kong graduate engineers no longer need
to go overseas for on-the-job experience, but it would be useful to learn the CBI views on this subject.
