Dear Sir David,
THE ESTATE OF THE LATE SIR K.S. TANG
I am writing to seek your help in resolving the matter of a bequest from the estate of this distinguished citizen of Hong Kong. As might be imagined, the complexities of bequests to a UK based charity from overseas, coupled with the fact of the testator being a Hong Kong citizen, makes for a substantial conundrum. If it can be resolved satisfactorily this Institute, of which I have the honour to be Chairman, stands to benefit substantially; and this benefit would be very timely since we are on the threshold of major redevelopments in our laboratories.
The enclosed memorandum to me from the Secretary of the Institute, Jonathan Kipling, sets out the background.
I can well imagine that resolving the Tang Estate issue will not rate very highly in Foreign and Commonwealth Office priorities with regard to Hong Kong, and this we understand. It would however be enormously helpful to us if the matter could be resolved (in our favour!), hence this letter.
Yours sincerely,
KA. bunett
Sir Kenneth Stowe
