SIR SK TANG BEQUEST
I am writing to ask for your help in sorting out this bequest, so that the funds concerned can be transferred to this country and administered in accordance with
Sir S K Tang's wishes. I understand that, for various
reasons, this matter has been dragging on for over 6 years
One of the main potential beneficiaries, the Institute
of Cancer Research, is anxious to see the matter resolved,
and I must say I sympathise with them.

The problem, as I understand it, does not involve any issue of substance but is a question of the legal complexities,
due to the fact that no trust was established to administer
this bequest. The ball has been in our court since February 1990, when the opinion of Hong Kong Crown Counsel on the
status of the bequest was forwarded to Hong Kong Department.
We were advised that a UK court would need to direct a
Scheme to give effect to Sir S K Tang's wishes, and the Charity Commission agreed to help with this. The Commission
