Taiwan's direct investment in HK has not been very substantial. According to Taiwan's statistics, a total of US$261 m of Taiwan's direct investment in HK had been approved up to end-1991. However, it is notable that, of this total, US$200 m worth of investment was approved in 1991, which was more than three times the cumulative total up to end-1990.
