There will no doubt be those in Hong Kong who will tell you to revert to what is obviously your favourite fable - that Prince Charming will be pressed to fit the slipper to my rather large foot. But we are not actually asking very much: we just want to be sure that British investment can go to the Ball after 1997 and not be left home in the kitchen by the Ugly Sisters (or no doubt in this case to give it one last excruciating turn - Ug Lee See Stah). Indeed, I believe that British investment in Hong Kong will become the hub for wider British influence, trade and investment throughout the Asia-Pacific area after 1997 - if we take the proper precautions now.
