We spoke. I enclose correspondence from a City firm of solicitors in connection with a Company Law matter relating to the maintenance of overseas registers of shareholders.
2. They make the point that the above (UK) company has such a register in Hong Kong, when the Companies Act 1985 does not include Hong Kong as one of the territories for which such a practice is allowed.

However the
the Act actually states, along with a list of territories, that the provision applies to "any part of Her Majesty's dominions outside the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man".

Could you give me your view as to whether Hong Kong is to be regarded as one of "Her Majesty's dominions". Our lawyers have pointed that Halsbury's Laws of England, volume 6, paragraph 803 opines that the term "Her Majesty's dominions" signifies the independent or dependent territories under the sovereignty of the crown. Would this include Hong Kong? Your lawyers may be able to answer this.
I would appreciate an early response, as the correspondent has classed his query as "urgent".
