Sir Colin Marshall

Siz Colin Marshall was born in 1933. He started his career in 1951 with the Orient Steam Navigation Company and after seven years movad on to join the Hertz Corporation in Chicago as a management trainee. After a term as General Manager Mexico and Assistant to the President in New York in 1961 he became General Manager UK, Netherlands and Belgium.
In 1964 he joined Avis Inc. as Regional Manager/Vice President Europe. After progressively assuming responsibilities for all areas of the world excluding the western hemisphere, he moved in 1971 to New York as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He became President in 1975, and Chief Executive officer in 1976. In 1979 he was appointed Executive Vice President of Norton Simen Inc. and Co-Chairman of Avis. returned to the United Kingdom in 1981 as Deputy Chief Executive and a board member of Sears Holdinge.

Sir Colin was appointed Chief Executive of British Airways in February 1983 and joined the airline's beard in May of that year. He is a Member of the Board of the British Tcurist Authority, Grand Metropolitản Plc and 12M United Kingdom Holdings. He was appointed to the board of Midland Bank in
1989.
He was made a Knight Bachelor in the Queen's Birthday Honours in
June 1987.
Sir Colin is married with one daughter. Hia leisure interests
are tennis and skiing.
