Mandarin Earnings Rise 10%

The Mandarin Oriental International has posted a 10 per cent increase in net profit to HK$149.7 million (US$19.2 million) for the six months ended June 30. Half-year earnings per share also rose by 10 per cent to 2.3 US cents. The board of directors has declared an unchanged interim dividend of 1.41 US cents per share.

Dairy Farm Profit Up

Hong Kong's top supermarket chain, Dairy Farm, has recorded a 10 per cent interim after- tax profit growth to HK$467.2 million (US$59.9 million) for the six months to the end of June.

HK Land Up 4%

Another company in the Jardine Matheson Group, Hong Kong Land, has finished the first half with a HK$1.2 billion (US$152.8 million) profit, up 3.7 per cent. Earnings per share rose 1.56 per cent to US$5.84 cents and the recommended dividend payment was up 5.26 per cent to US3 cents a share.

Sun Hung Kai's Taxed Profits Up 120%

Sun Hung Kai & Co has reported a 120 per cent increase in after-tax profits to HK$201.2 million (US$26.1 million) for the first six months. Earnings per share are 33.2 HK cents (4.31 US cents) and the directors recommended a 10 HK cents (1.29 US cents) interim dividend.

Sun Hung Kai's Full-Year Profit Up 36%

Sun Hung Kai Properties' net profit has increased by 36.5 per cent to HK$4.68 billion (US$607 million) for the year to June 30. Earnings per share were HK$2.62 (US$0.34) and the directors have recommended a final dividend of 75 HK cents (9.7 US cents) which boosts the total payout to HK$1.14 (US$0.14) for the whole year.

Hopewell Sees 126% Profit Rise

Hong Kong-based construction and property developer, Hopewell Holdings, has announced a 126 per cent increase in profits attributable to shareholders of $1.62 billion (US$210 million) and a 25 per cent increase in dividends for the financial year 1991-92. Turnover for the year was $1.62 billion (US$210 million), up from $982.07 million (US$127.5 million) in the previous year. However, owing to the dilution effect of the 400 million share placement and the 5.65 billion (US$733 million) rights issue last year, earnings per share rose one cent or 2.4 per cent to 42 cents.
