COMMONWEALTH FINANCE MINISTERS MEETING 1992: REPRESENTATION of DEPENDENT TERRITORIES

1.

This year's CFMM is being held in New York 16-17 September. As in previous years, there will be places on the UK delegation for up to five representatives from the Dependent Territories.

2.

Standard practice is to offer one place to each of Hong Kong, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, because of their importance as financial centres, and two other places to the other Dependent Territories in rotation (last year to Anguilla and Gibraltar). In the end only Bermuda and Gibraltar sent representatives.

Current

3. The agenda for this year's CFMM concentrates on: World Economic Situation and Problems, including IMF and World Bank questions; Enhancing Private Investment Flows for Development; and Commonwealth Functional Cooperation, including pledges to CFTC for 1992/93. I would be grateful for bids as to who should be invited to this year's CFMM by Thursday 23 July.
