A SUMMARY OF POLICIES AND INITIATIVES

THE ECONOMY

Projections

(a) Growth should average 5% p.a. to 1997.

(b) Foreign trade should amount to US$548 billion by 1997.

(c) Per capita GDP should reach US$30,500 by 1997.

Policies

(a) TO maintain prudent fiscal policies (including a low tax

regime).

(b) TO attack barriers to the growth and competitiveness of

the economy.
