Society and Social Welfare
1. Government must take a more active role in seeking to enable
all members of society to live in dignity.
2.
It must ensure that the basic necessities are provided for those who cannot provide for themselves and that these are to the standards normal for a modern, developed and caring society.
3. We call for the speedy implementation of a non-means tested old age pension for all over the age of 65 and subsequently legislation to ensure the establishment of the provision of retirement benefits for the whole workforce.
Education

Governemnt should ensure that adequate opportunities are available to all, without discrimination and irrespective of means.
2. More resources must be allocated to the provision of education to enable the young to develop their potential and to lay the foundation for the future social and economic development of
the territory.
3. The allocation of resources between tertiary, secondary and primary education must ensure balanced development of all sectors.
4. More resources must be devoted to teacher training to improve both the standard and status of our teachers at all levels of our education system.
5. We advocate the promotion of teaching in the mother tongue as
extensively as possible.
6. We call for a review to
establish the most appropriate mix
of the provision of public and private education facilities.
Health Care
1. Government must aim to ensure that adequate health services
are available to all, irrespective of means.
2. Proper provision should be made for the representation of the views of the public in the Government's health care policy making.
3. We urge consideration of the implementation of
implementation of a system of compulsory medical insurance schemes, but the establishment of such a system should not absolve the Government from providing
to adequate medical facilities for those whose are insufficient to enable them to participate in such a system.
