In determining for the purposes of subsection (1) above whether States are members of an organisation, any member which is itself States & Commcores organisation of which, only States are members, or which is an organ uch an organisation, shall be treated as a State.

(1) Any power of the Secretary of State under this Act to make Orders:

2) No order shall be made by him for the purposes of section 7(5), 8(9)

16.--(1) This Act may be cited as the Official Secrets Act 1989.

(2) This Act and the Official Secrets Acts 1911 to 1939 may be cited ogether as the Official Secrets Acts 1911 to 1989.

(3) Schedule + to this Act shall have effeet for making amendments consequential on the provisions of this Act.

(4) The enactments and Order mentioned in Schedule 2 to this Act are- hereby repealed or revoked to the extent specified in the third column of that Schedule

(5) Subject to any Order under subsection (3) of section 15 above the repeals in the Official Secrets Act 1911 and the Official Secrets Act ‍1920 do not extend to any of the territories mentioned in that subsection.

(6) This Act shall come into force on such day as the Secretary of State may by order appoint.
