DIRECTOR, TERRORIST FINANCE UNIT, BELFAST
Alistair Munro is the Director of the Terrorist Finance Unit, and an Assistant Secretary within the Security Responsibility Centre of the Northern Ireland Office.
In 1988 he set up the TFU and recruited its multi disciplinary staff. Immediately prior to taking up appointment as Director, he was a Chief Investigator and before that an investigator with the Inland Revenue. He has thus had over 15 years experience of investigating complex fraud and latterly terrorist organised crime. His early working life was also spent with the Inland Revenue, and he is professionally qualified as an Inspector of Taxes.
An Aberdonian, he is married (to a college lecturer) with 3 adult sons. His interests include rugby union, (he is a former senior referee), his collection of antiquarian books (5,000) and the works of Robert Burns.
