Exemptions from the requirements of paragraph 1 may be granted upon applicants establishing to satisfaction of the Board of Examiners, the successful completion of an equivalent examination or practical experience elsewhere.
Upon admission, a solicitor will be issued a practising certificate subject to the condition that he or she shall not practise on his or her own account or in partnership for a period no less than that prescribed as the period of conditional practice under or pursuant to the Legal Practitioners Ordinance, subject to any waiver that may be granted under this Ordinance.
Practitioners
may sit for the required Test examination(s) either before working in a Hong Kong firm or while working in the firm. Should practitioners choose to work while preparing for the Test examination(s), the time spent in a Hong Kong law firm prior to the successful completion of the Test examination(s), may, upon admission, count as part of
the period of conditional practice.
